We understand that our crew have made the big decision to dedicate at least a year of their life to farming, which is a very hard and laborious career. We also know that our crew is motivated to learn about and gain extendable experience in organic farming and holistic management. As a farm with young kids, we hold flexibility for ourselves and strive to grow and sell vegetables and herbs in a work environment that feels full of care, safety and connection. In 2023 we are hiring for a part time position to assist with market harvest on Fridays and to staff our Sunday farmers market in Rhinebeck, NY. We are streamlining our marketing outlets, focusing on training and communication, and we need your help to make dreams come true! All team members take a paid mid-summer holidays week and all lunch and mid-morning breaks are paid. We are looking for excited, hard-working and joyful folks to join our team.
May 5 – mid/end October 2023. Hours are 24-32 hours per week, W, Th, Friday on farm and Sundays at the farmers market.
Flexibility to arrange 5 Sundays off throughout the season with advanced notice.
This position is straightforward with a focus on crop production, market harvest and sales
$16.50/hr. This position includes 2 paid sick days in the season and 4 paid vacation/holiday days during the seasonal commitment (we usually take vacations on rotation August/September). Lunches and breaks are paid. Any paid time off needed in case of COVID-19 quarantine can be accessed through our disability benefits. We give all crew members access to whatever vegetables they want for personal use throughout the season. Additionally, personal trades are available for you - using our vegetables - at the farmers market! The vendor community at Rhinebeck is a kind bunch and its a lovely market to work at.
We're looking for a team member with 1 full season previous vegetable farming experience. Farmers market sales experience preferred. We are excited to have you join our team if you are committed to a full season of farming, excited about organic vegetable production and working with a small close-knit team, and enjoy the natural ebbs and flows of working outside and in close relationship to the natural world.
For marketing work, candidate will be driving our 12' delivery box truck. We require a clean driving record so that drivers can be covered by our truck insurance.
This job generally requires lifting between 25-50 lbs.
