CSA Description

JUNE 2023 UPDATE: Our CSA is currently full. Join our waitlist by emailing us. Thank you!

We love serving our 40 local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members who pick up at the Farm. The connection with our immediate community brings us joy and keeps us going all season long. At farm pick ups kids are playing and we are coming in from the fields to have a chat and a cold drink with folks as they arrive. It's a friendly, welcoming community scene.

This CSA gives members the opportunity to eat food which is grown, harvested and processed with care within 30 miles of where they live! We pride ourselves on being a farm that is run with care towards our team and ourselves and customers. CSA harvests happen 1-2 days before distribution: This food is ALIVE and its flavors and vitality will surprise you! We love the hard-core veggie lovers that emerge from CSA membership. Each week members bring bags and select their items. We offer a paid "Box My Share" option for missed pick ups.

See below for full CSA Details: Pick up time and Dates, Cost and Payments, and Freebies!

An update for our 2022 Hudson and Kingston Pickup Members: This year we have chosen to focus in on farm pickups and we will not be offering our Hudson or Kingston pickup locations. This is due to a reduction in crew members, a need to scale back, and put love close to our farm home. If you usually pick up in Kingston or Hudson, we would LOVE for you to come join us for the on-farm CSA this season!

In addition to our on-Farm CSA memberships, we offer 10 FREE CSA shares to the Hudson community through a collaboration with Long Table Harvest. Support their work and ours: Donate to our Food for All Fund!

What To Expect

Every Thursday we greet you at the Farm. You bring bags to collect each item: select your own bunches of greens, roots, and herbs, fill bags of salad and pick out the tomatoes that look the most delicious to you! If you're coming to the farm, we are often around working on projects but you will always find Lauren's husband Jonney at the CSA location ready to host and help.

Also, most importantly, we welcome everyone to stay, hang out, bring a beer, enjoy the Food Trucks if there, walk around the farm, bring your kids, pick your own flowers, unwind and enjoy the farm! Safety is of utmost importance while driving on and off the farm since there are little kids wandering freely.

FAQs

Here are some helpful questions and answers about the Local Columbia County CSA.
  • How much food do I get each week?

A share is enough food for  2-4 depending on vegetable obsession level

  • Can I pay over time?

We are happy to offer payment plans for members to pay in 2 or 3 installments: due in full by Aug 1.

  • I'm concerned about wasting the food. What can I do?

Cook for friends, trade an item with another member, freeze food for the winter (pesto etc.!), focus on cooking from the farm share rather than from pre-selected recipes.

  • If I can't make the pickup, what are my options?

    Gift My Share

You are welcome to gift your share to friends and family! Just tell them to come to pickup and sign your name. No need to let us know!

    Box My Share

You have the option have us box your share and put in the upper cooler, available to pickup until Saturday evening. After Saturday your share will be donated.

Boxing your share must be requested in advance of pickup and costs $5 per request (this covers the labor and the cost of the box). You will be invoiced at the end of the season.

Box My Share requests must be made at: https://ironwood.farm/box-my-share

  • Can I join the CSA after the start date?

Yes: we offer pro-rated shares based on the weeks you participate. But we aim to have all folks signed up by the start date!

  • I know I'm going miss a week, what can I do?

If you can't make a week, we suggest folks to offer the share to a friend to pick up and enjoy!

  • Can I pre-select what I get each week?

A CSA share is full of suprises of what is bountiful in the season. Trust us to select the items for you based on our farm knowledge & customer care. If you want to order extra items you are welcome to participate as an Individual Customer on our online ordering portion of our website!

  • How can I order more veggies than what's in the share?

Yes! Check out the Individual Customer option in our Online Ordering store.

  • Do you accept worktrades or volunteers?

We accept 1 or 2 worktrade members per year who pay half of their share and work hours totalling the remaining half @ $12/hr. The days are fun and fly by. We can always use help from volunteers!

  • Does the share contain meat or dairy products?

This share is 100%  veggies & herbs

  • What happens at a CSA pickup?

Bring your bags, check out the list to review how much of each item is on offer, and hand-select your items by the bunch, piece or lb. We provide scales for items that need to be weighed, and plastic bags, though we encourage folks to re-use bags whenever possible!

  • I'd like to walk around the farm at pickup, can I do that?

You are welcome to walk around and enjoy the farm during CSA pick up! Occasionally we have flowers or herbs to pick for CSA members.

  • Will the farmers be at pickup?

Yes! Your share is distributed by one of the owners or a member of the crew. If you don't see us immediately around we might be attending to an urgent issue, but we are always ready to help and we love greeting folks for CSA distribution.

  • Can I bring a dog to pickup?

If you bring your dog, please bring them on a leash, and understand that if we start to have more than one dog regularly at pick up we might change to a "no dog" policy due to dog confrentations and the presence of little kiddos at our CSA pick-ups.
